Unison Colour welcomes Steve Hall as an Associate Artist
I grew up in a wonderful family environment in the Cotswolds where, from an early age, I had always wanted to capture the countryside around me with its ever changing patterns of weather, seasons and light.
I have generally been known as a watercolour painter and teacher and have worked in this medium for over twenty years, having written several books on the subject as well as making five instructional DVDs for Town House films and producing over a dozen articles for the Artist magazine.
In recent years I have worked in acrylic but, more especially, in the medium of pastel, which has proved to be one of the most exciting periods of my painting career.
It became clear from the outset that Unison offered the opportunity to express and utilise the medium to its fullest potential. As a watercolourist I have always been a tonal painter but pastel has opened my eyes to the myriad of colour possibilities that are on offer. I have been seduced by the sheer brilliance of the medium and its facility to portray brilliance and light.
My subject preference is usually landscape although I will also portray the built environment and marine subjects. It is the sheer delight of laying on large slabs and colour and then making these ‘pop’ with smaller highlight strokes that I find so fascinating and expressive.
I am delighted to team up with Unison family of products and look forward to representing and promoting them in the future.
