Wishing to create works with a personal layer, Toni left portraiture for a period to focus upon portraying the London she grew up with. ‘Shoreditch Streets’ brings Toni back to her East London roots where she documents the everchanging scenery and textures of Shoreditch. The various graffiti artists and their works are brought to light and celebrated throughout the series as well as the overlooked features that contribute to the richness of London’s streets. “Wheels of the Roving Cafe” a painting of what was the Nomadic Gardens of Shoreditch not only was exhibited at the Mall Galleries, Pastel Society Annual Exhibition but it also won Toni the Unison Young Artist Award 2020.
Going forward, Toni will continue to reveal the diamonds within the rough of the city streets as well as document the hidden groups of people who populate it. Mixing her life experiences with a journalistic curiosity, her paintings will reveal everyday stories behind every image.
