I cannot say I am a pastel artist, but I am an artist who uses pastels. It didn’t start that way either. Much of my work is humanitarian using art as a means of protest, at least making a noise.

We as painters are always hoping for that next masterpiece. So, the question begs to be answered, “why paint plein air?”.
As a relatively young artist, I have found that there is an unspoken expectation to identify with one specific medium, one style, and one subject matter. Of course, people meander a little bit, but generally it feels like those that are more competent and ambitious find their artistic lane and stick in it.
As an artist, every big event is potentially siesmic on the emotions and what we produce and ordinarily the go to would be to put our feelings down on paper.
