Ilkley Art Show 2018

I had been delighted to have been asked to demonstrate & promote my very favourite pastels UNISON (what else!)  I have been using these since I first discovered them in the Skipton Art Shop in approx 1988, my goodness showing my age now.

Cath Inglis at Ilkley Art Show.

I have been using them ever since – nothing compares with these lovely, buttery pastels. I have been spreading their virtues too since I started demonstrating and  teaching pastels to aspiring artist about 20 years ago!

Anyway, it was a great arty event with lots of artists demonstrating their work in their chosen  mediums.  Selected artists  were delivering workshops to budding artists too in a variety of subjects  and mediums – all very inspiring.

Lots of trade stands from leading art material suppliers with most stands featuring an  artist demonstrating and some  with a hands on experience  to try out their materials .   There was also an art exhibition in the main hall and a nice cafe serving coffee and cakes!

Lots of visitors were coming through the door and spending time to take a look at the various demos.   I had decided to work on the head of a hare – one of my favourite subjects that always catches the eye.  Spent lots of time chatting to artists and explaining the different techniques that I use with  Unison pastels as well as tempting them with  pastel sets fully stocked drawer cabinet of pastels  ( sweeties to the eye) on the stand!

Thanks to Tim and his staff at Ilkley Art Shop for a great day.

Pastel Portrait of William Bradford – Pilgrim Father

About 18 months ago I was approached by the Friends of St Helena Church in Austerfield, Doncaster to produce a portrait of William Bradford (Pilgrim Father). This was to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to Plymouth in the USA.

Paradise Lost And Found

Our senses have evolved to filter out and ignore the majority of information around us.  Evolution is a very efficient thing; it doesn’t tend to waste energy developing anything that’s not essential to an organism.
