Oliver Jones

Unison Colour Associate Artist

Oliver’s drawings are principally concerned with how flesh resides within the public conscious and how its image is engaged and shaped by industry and the media. It adopts similar techniques used in these spheres in order to ‘re-advertise’ an image of flesh that is more commonly experienced in reality and the most recent work aims to interrogate the routines and rituals, commonly undertaken to maintain and improve this visage. The drawings are rendered in coloured pastel on paper, one reason being that their fragile qualities reflect the delicate nature of flesh but most importantly the way the pigments are applied holds very close parallels with the way one applies cosmetic products, touches and handles their own skin.
