On Monday 4th February 2019, we began our long journey down to London for the Pastel Society Exhibition. We had to make sure the precious cargo of Unison Colour pastel prizes were safe as we meandered our way across London on the tube. Those sets are heavy!
We have been following Pastel Artist Amy Webber on Instagram & watching her progress for a while now. We knew that Amy would be the perfect artist to join our Associate Artist scheme. We were delighted when Amy accepted our invitation!
Brent is based in New South Wales, Australia & specialises in Gamilaraay art. If you do not know what Gamilaraay means; they are Indigenous people of Australia whose land extends from New South Wales & Southern Queensland.

We are often asked which paper is the best to use for our soft pastels. I asked 3 of our Associate Artists for their opinion.
I had been delighted to have been asked to demonstrate & promote my very favourite pastels UNISON (what else!) I have been using these since I first discovered them in the Skipton Art Shop in approx 1988, my goodness showing my age now.
All of us as artists have busy lives! As it goes, some of the things we are obliged to have nothing to do with art! For me, as an artist and committed pastelist, I still, on a daily basis, strive to find that everyday time to paint, regardless of how little time I have.
Our first plein air day here at La Grande Maslerie, Roullours, Normandy, France. It was a wonderful morning with glorious sunshine so we headed to a nearby pond with water lilies au Monet!
