Daily Painting by RS Weinblatt

All of us as artists have busy lives! As it goes, some of the things we are obliged to have nothing to do with art! For me, as an artist and committed pastelist, I still, on a daily basis, strive to find that everyday time to paint, regardless of how little time I have. I thought I’d share my ideas on that with you guys so you too can become daily painters regardless of time factors!

We can all find 20 minutes during the day, be it in one chunk or broken up through out that busy day!  My goal is to do one painting everyday as an exercise regardless of anything else I have going on and I’m committed to doing so! You gain so much more in experience collectively than the 15 or 20 minutes you actually sit down to paint! For me, it’s easy because painting is my addiction and my obsession! If it’s the same for you, then here’s the plan!

Daily Painting by RS Weinblatt 1

I have a drawer filled with all kinds of photos and every morning I reach  into that collection! I choose one photo arbitrarily and that’s the photo I will respond to for my painting! I have a pile of small pre-cut pieces of a sanded surface from which I choose one that will be my painting surface, choose 11-15 UNISON PASTELS, put in my horizon line and I’m painting!

My goal is to paint everyday and whatever I get in that short amount of time is OK with me! I’m usually done in about 11 minutes or so with the basic image and have at least another 4 whole minutes for finishing marks! There’s no time to remove or erase marks but to readjust them and make them work in that time period! I have found this process to be not only helpful in becoming a more skilled artist but have also found it extremely satisfying!

Why don’t you join me in my DAILY PAINTING PLAN and see how you too can become a daily painter, even in a limited amount of time!
