Kay Cullen

Unison Colour Associate Artist

Unison Colour welcomes Kay Cullen as an Associate Artist

Kay Cullen produces paintings connected to her home in Northern Ireland. Her work spans themes both current and historical. She draws inspiration from landscapes such as the Mourne Mountains, which surrounded her during her youth. She also produces close up studies of wildlife including flora and fauna native to her environment.

Over the course of her career as a painter she has developed techniques in a variety of media. Currently she is most enthusiastic about using pastels,

“When you are out sketching you don’t need to pack too much equipment, simply a board, toothed paper and some pastels. The immediacy of working with pastels informs my decision to use it. It’s the correct tool for my approach.”
