I spend a lot of time thinking about how greens are seen, or not seen, how they can be captured and are so impossibly hard to capture.
It is early days for my pastel art journey. I consider myself a complete novice when it comes to working with pastels, especially soft pastel, there´s so much to learn but I´m really looking forward to it.
No matter how I tried, my conifers always looked flat and uninspired, not unlike a green frosted sugar cookie.

Like any artist, I experience various states of creativity – both euphoria from good moments and satisfaction from my work, and disappointment and devastation from the fact that nothing works.
Each artist has their own colour palette and color preferences. Those who are familiar with my art style know that I do like incorporating bright vibrant colours into my artworks.
What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence to me means not being afraid of failing or messing up. Personally, failure is not a term I use because anything that doesn’t turn out the way we intended is something to reflect and learn from.
Like most of us, these last few months have meant lots of changes to the way I work. One of my unexpected confessions is that
I am a planner (and not ashamed to admit it). While I may spend time sketching for fun, when beginning a new painting, I always have a plan.
A few months ago, I prepared some acid-free mount boards with a mixture of gesso marble dust and a small amount of water. I painted it on, purposely leaving painterly marks with the brush.
So, like many other artists, I do get some scam emails, purporting to be interested buyers from overseas. It is a common problem. These scams are very clever and we need to be very alert to the issue.
