Announcing The New Unison Colour Pastel Paper

Developed in collaboration with Two Rivers Hand Made Paper Company in Somerset, together we have created a pastel paper totally unique to Unison Colour. Made from 100% natural fibres of cotton and linen the handmade paper has a great surface texture capable of taking layers and layers of Unison Colour’s soft pastel, making it an ideal paper for expressive styles of artwork.

  1. I just used the new Unison pastel paper and was fascinated with how many layers it takes. I did a watercolor underpainting first. About how many layers will the paper allow for? Can you use fixative on it? Can you use an alcohol wash instead of water. What other mediums can you use on it besides water color, gouache, pastel? Can you use oil pastel and oil paints and would it be able to handle Gamsol solvent. I would love to see more demos, blogs on this paper.
    Thank you,

Tips From My First Art Fair Experience

I took the plunge in 2022 and did my first art fair with over 100 artists, at Goodwood Racecourse.  It felt like a big leap as previously I had only done small local craft/art events as being an introvert I find ‘putting myself out there’ a scary experience.

How long did it take?

The question that every artist hears at some point is “How long did it take you to paint this?”.  It can be a very complex question to answer.  Is the inquiry to determine the financial value of the piece?  Does the answer somehow determine the quality of the painting?
